A coincidence today seeing Gabriel G Marquez' name online as I'd recently searched my library for his books. Once long ago I read one of his novels; must have been a thousand pages, as I thought back on the time I read it. It took me forever to finish and I'm a fast reader. Marquez is Good! Reading about a different culture, though, was a challenge for me.
It so happened that Marquez died very shortly after this and he left behind some powerful words.
You might enjoy reading some of his works. I have four his books requested at our local library. They will be able for pick-up in about a week. Maybe by then I can have a couple read that I checked out yesterday
Please enjoy his words of goodbye to all his friends and family.
A Genius Says Goodbye Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Mr. Gabriel Garcia Marquez, great Latin American writer, has said goodbye to the public life due to complications in his health: lymphatic cancer. He has sent a letter to his friends and thanks to the Internet we all are able to share it. This short text written by one of the most brilliant Latin Americans of the past years is really inspiring:
"If for an instant God forgot that I am just a puppet and He gave me one more piece of life, I would take advantage of that time, the best I could. I probably would not say everything I think, but definitely think all I say.
I would value things not for what they are worth but for what they represent.
I would sleep less and dream more, for every minute we close our eyes, we lose sixty seconds of light.
I would continue where others have stopped and I would rise while others sleep.
If God allowed me one more piece of life, I would dress simpler, would wallow in the sunlight, leaving uncovered, not only my body but my soul.
I would prove to men how wrong they are to think that they stop falling in love as they get older, since they actually start getting older as soon as they stop falling in love.
I would give wings to the children, but I would leave the child alone so that he can learn to fly on his own.
To the old, I would show them how death comes not with the aging process but with forgetting.
So many things I have learned from you . . . I have learned that everybody wants to live at the top of the mountain, forgetting that how we climb is all that matters.
I have learned that when a newborn grabs his father's thumb he takes hold on him forever.
I have learned that a man has the right to look down on somebody only when he is helping him to get up.
So many things I have learned from you. . . .
Always tell what you feel and do what you think.
If I knew that today it would be the last time that I will see you, I will embrace you strongly to be the guardian of your soul.
If I would know that this would be the last minute that I will see you, I would say to you, "I love you"and wouldn't assume that you would know it.
There is always morning when life gives us another opportunity to make things good.
Keep always close to you your dear ones and tell them how much you need them and love them and take care of them.
Take time to say, "I am sorry", "Forgive me", and "Please", "Thank you" and all the nice and lovely words you know.
Nobody would remember you if you keep your thoughts secret. Force yourself to express them; show your friends and dear ones how much you care about them.
If you don't, tomorrow will be the same as today and it will not matter either...
For you, with much love and care.
Gabriel Garcia Marquez
My life is ruled by the seasons and weather. Sometimes I dig dirt. Other times I dig art. Today I'm digging both, while musing on life.

Pondering with Anger - Eight 8 VACATIONS!
Is this not insanity? Why is such waste for the American taxpayers allowed? These people (current fixtures) take a lot of advantage of those who foot their bills. Change must come!

Day I Will Never Forget
November 22, 1963. I am surprised it has not been remembered by someone in the media today. I cannot recall another year it wasn't mentioned.
Apparently the "news-makers" are too busy with the current situations around the world to remember the worldwide grief that surrounded the above date.
So much 'water under the bridge' these many past chaotic years - will it never cease?
Just a little reminder for those who were around then.

Sister M Lurana Was Right!
Exasperated with his tricks,, Sister Mary Lurana 3rd grade , St. Brigid's School told Bill O'Reilly " You are "A bold fresh piece of humanity".
And that he is! I love Bill O'Reilly. Except for a glimpse when passing by a television eight years ago, I have never seen the man. Really. Heard of him, for a brother watches Mr. O'Reilly's show, "The O'Reilly Factor" every night. That's how I began hearing the name. I became curious. Went and checked out a book about him, titled (what else but) " You are A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity", his memoir.
I was literally stunned reading the book for I had formed a completely opposite opinion of him, thinking him an angry radical. Was I ever wrong. I've finished a second book of his and waiting for a third book he has written. Very good writer. Well, why not? He's been at it for years. I believe he molded some good kids while teaching them in Florida for two years. Then it was radio and television work from then on.
I haven't seen his show but have one of them waiting for watching. If I had access to television, I could watch it live, IF I could stay awake that long, 10pm. I seriously doubt that happening. Yawn.
O'Reilly is so intelligent, so conscientious, a good human being. Reading the second book, he speaks of the drug problems in our country ...and from other things I've read, the drug abuse issue, the dark world of drug trade is a fact, a tremendous and chilling fact of life. Bill proposed a plan that will literally abolish the widespread drug problem in 2 years! I can see it is definitely workable. Now why is it that all 'our supposed to be' brilliant folks up there on the hill' have not come up with such a plan? I'll tell you. Money is why. Too much money to be made with this drug business. And I'll guarantee that some of those folks 'on the hill' are reaping great benefits from the situation also. Read some about Mena, Arkansas! Read the book, "Trance- Formation of America"and you will get educated on the swill abounding everywhere. Information that should be known before you go vote in the upcoming election.
The drug business is well and prospering around where I live also. Pain clinics around and about, doctors passing out prescriptions like lollipops. A new methadone clinic is to be built in such a nice village a ways off; a negative situation for the homeowners and businesses they have there. Common sense would dictate the clinic being built nearer to the hospital district, instead of 17 miles away. But the commissioners of our town decided this move - against all those in that village.
Shocking. I hear stuff; that's how I know. Yes, I even have fear being out; how do I know what I may encounter out there. People moved in across the highway from me; they are being called "Meth Heads". My peace of mind now gone. Scary situation. I encountered one girl in my yard who was out of her mind with energy - physical movement and mouth-wise.
It is such a privilege to learn about Bill O'Reilly. We don't often find one who makes no bones about telling the truth, 'letting the chips fall where they may', so to speak. I admire him.
Yes, Sister Lurana said it right. Bill O'Reilly is bold and he is fresh. No doubt about it.

Two Thumbs Up for Indonesia Regarding Castration
In the "Latest Headlines" on Yahoo is this news item regarding sexual crimes. I'm all for it! There is a critical need around the world for such measures to curb the age-old onslaught of this particular crime against others that is perpetrated by testosterone-driven creatures.
Indonesia passed controversial laws earlier this month authorising chemical castration for paedophiles.
We have this measure for our animals to control its population. So why not the same for those who have absolutely no sense of morality, decency or responsibility to its victims. Spay and Neuter - a responsible measure - for the animals ....four legged and otherwise.
Think about it.
